Superheroes, fairies and roller derby girls alike invaded the George R. Brown Convention Center this past weekend for the 5th Annual Comicpalooza. Each year the convention grows with more vendors, more artists and bigger name special guests. We made it out to the last day of this year’s event and needless to say, we were not disappointed!
Being my first ever comic book convention, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Comicpalooza. After having an absolute blast for four straight hours though, I came away with a few things: (1) Immediately after seeing all of the memorabilia for sale I turned into 10-year-old me and wanted EVERYTHING! (2) People dressed as creepy medieval birds doing creepy dances while walking towards me are… well, creepy. And (3) I love me some roller derby!
Sadly, I wasn’t able to track down an issue of Houston’s very own superhero, Scarlet Spider, while I was there but I did get a pretty sweet Spiderman hat! Fellow MHLer, Denisse, didn’t get hit on by Darth Vader like she had hoped, but she did meet these guys!
