So where were you when the Houston Texan’s won the first playoff game in franchise history? Were you lucky enough to get a ticket to the game? Or did you find your way onto the parking lot and join in on the tailgating?
I, for one, did not make it out to Reliant for the game. There are nearly 6 million people in the Houston Metropolitan Area. Reliant Stadium seats a little over 71,000. You do the math.
I was, however, still surrounded by rabid Texans fans! In fact, on any given game day at Lucky’s Pub in EADO (East Downtown), you can find yourself cheering alongside Texans fans, Rockets fans, hell… even Aeros fans? Lucky’s Pub is simply a great sports bar. Lucky’s Pub is my go-to, Houston sports bar.
Everybody needs a good sports bar to fall back on. A good sports bar is one of those institutions that will never lose its place in the world of nightlife venues. They sit in that happy medium between nightclubs and well… staying home. And screaming at the TV like the team can actually hear you is so much more fun when there are other people around to witness!
Its a simple science really… looking for a good sports bar. I look for a few key must-haves: (1) A ridiculous amount of TVs all showing sports or sports-related shows (2) A good variety of beers and liquors and (3) Tasty sports watching food i.e. nachos, pizza etc.
As a guy, its one of the keys to happiness. You find yourself a great sports bar. The dress code is usually casual and the drink specials always last long into the night.
Try Lucky’s Pub. I like it. My boys like it. Actually, my boys’ girls like this place. Win-win.
