Disclaimer: Drugs have not actually been found (or tested) in any of their food.
If you go around town you’ll find Ruggles Grill (very fancy), Ruggles Green (very organic) and Ruggles Café and Bakery. I will focus of their Café and Bakery since, well, I’m partial to its location in Rice Village, and because it’s where I was first introduced to my most beloved dessert obsession.
Ruggles Café and Bakery has a very casual atmosphere. You order at the counter and wait for your buzzer to notify you when your order is ready. The place is family friendly while still being BYOB. They claim, “We’re serving the best wine list in town. It’s yours!” They’re not open particularly late — they close at 10 during the week and 11 on weekends. While their food is tasty (tomato basil soup!), I suggest that if you already have dinner plans in Rice Village, make time to go to Ruggles for dessert!
Ohhh, Baby!! Nirvana is what you’ll be in when you take the first bite of their white chocolate bread pudding. I don’t care what you say, “I don’t like bread puddings”, “I don’t like white chocolate”, “I don’t eat delicious things”; you must try it. It comes with an oversized scoop of ice cream and a side of raspberry sauce. I ignore the raspberry sauce and dig into the crusty exterior and shovel out some warm, decadent, heaven-soaked bread, scrape a bit of the melting ice cream and then let the feel of pure dessert love envelope me. Ok yes, I’m obsessed and addicted, and I have considered the possibility of trace amounts of crack being used in their recipe. I may be partial to this specific dessert.
I’ve also had friends venture to other desserts such as their key lime pie, strawberry bomb, chocolate crème brulee, and tiramisu. Every sweet craving can be completely satisfied here. The desserts are big enough to share especially if you’ve stuffed your face elsewhere. So go visit next time you’re in the area, and I doubt you’ll be disappointed.
That white chocolate bread pudding is the shizznit… I’d eat that until I was full… actually even after I was full.
