Los Magnificos Lowrider Car Show and Concert

There was a time in Houston where the modified car scene was one of the hottest in the nation. With the popularity of the scene at an all time high, extravagant car shows and race events became the hottest ticket in town — every other month would bring a new car show or drag race to a Houston venue. To say that the scene has died down a little would be a drastic understatement as car shows in Houston have regressed back to their local car meet roots. Some would say that is how they prefer it.

One car show has survived and thrived in Houston though — every year the Reliant Center is transformed into a center for car and hip-hop music enthusiasts alike when the Los Magnificos Lowrider Car Show and Concert rolls into town.

The venue is split into two main sections, the car show and the concert. The concert this year featured some of today’s most popular rap and r&b artists such as Waka Flacka, Kirko Bangz, and Plies. The concert provided a fitting soundtrack for the glitz and glamour of the near 400 modified cars on display in the car show section of the event.

Walking through the event, it was obvious that the show was still as big of a draw for the Houston public as ever — tickets to the show were sold out by noon. Whether you were there for the concert, to see the cars or just to admire the impressive work of the car show models, this long standing Houston event rarely disappoints.
