Eatsie Boys… Fight! For your right! To eat gooooood food!

img_1000000490There is a common stigma that comes with food trucks — it’s just food truck food, it isn’t gourmet. Well while some Houstonian, self-proclaimed “foodies” may turn their noses up at food trucks like the Eatsie Boys trailer, we at MHL will continue to enjoy their culinary creations!

With a menu filled with items that send subtle nods to classic Beastie Boys songs, the guys of the Eatsie Boys truck are serving up morsels of deliciousness to patrons of Houston streets. I came across the Eatsie Boys trailer in a parking lot adjacent to the popular Agora Coffeehouse on Westheimer. Although I was headed to a cafe down the street, the aromas in the air and the intriguing menu items were too good to pass up. After careful deliberation, I settled on sampling the Sabotage, a slow-roasted pork sandwich on a baguette.

The combination of the slow roasted pork on a bed of dark braised greens instantly triggered thoughts of my grandma’s low and slow cooked, pork and mustard greens dish. In my book, any food that reminds me of my grandmothers cooking is good eats to me!

The Eatsie Boys also offer an elaborate menu of homemade ice creams and sorbets that won’t be found in any grocery store freezers or at the local Ben and Jerry’s. I for one, can not wait to return to this food truck to sample more of their menu and the highly-regarded desserts! Be sure to follow the Eatsie Boys truck, @eatsieboys, on Twitter.
